Making room for rest.
In a Northampton condo, an awkwardly placed primary-bedroom door limited furniture options. Susan resolved the door placement to make room for a king-size bed and a more comfortable layout.

A NEW ENGLAND REMODELA beautiful room should also make your day easier. At Cracraft Design, I begin with how you cook, gather, unwind, and move through your home. Then I bring thoughtful planning, enduring materials, and a discerning eye to every decision—creating spaces that feel as good as they look.

Every home presents a different puzzle. Susan brings a practical, creative eye to making the most of each space.
After 15 years designing for the luxury market, I’ve learned that a few well-chosen changes can transform a space without a complete renovation. I founded Cracraft Design with that belief: a thoughtful refresh with luxury materials can make a familiar room feel entirely new.
Sub-zero and Wolf appliances, custom drawer organizers, upgraded hardware, fresh paint, and small layout changes can make a meaningful difference. Often, the best solution builds on what already works, with minimal disruption to everyday life.
I had the opportunity to train at the Sub-Zero/Wolf headquarters in Wisconsin, an experience that reinforced my appreciation for their products.
Intuitive layouts, purposeful storage, beautiful cabinetry, and materials selected for everyday use. A kitchen that supports the cook and welcomes everyone else.
Comfortable, carefully planned spaces with considered lighting, useful storage, and a thoughtful balance of materials, function, and ease of movement.
From adjoining rooms to a focused design consultation, an attentive eye for the way your spaces work together—and the details that make them your own.

Helping her 90 year-old mom remain independent at home gave Susan a deeply personal understanding of what thoughtful design can do. Determined to turn that experience into professional expertise, she completed specialized training and earned her living-in-place certification (CLIPP). She brings that knowledge to designing homes that support comfort, accessibility, and independence.
Her husband’s recovery from a badly broken leg after a bike crash reinforced that living-in-place design supports people of all ages. Thoughtful design can make a meaningful difference when unexpected events change everyday needs.
Her approach considers your needs today and how they may evolve, bringing comfort, dignity, and beautiful design into the same conversation.
Consider accessible storage, comfortable reach, intuitive controls, and task lighting that supports daily routines.
Small, well-chosen tools can make everyday living easier, too. The Idem Smart Clock lets a caregiver post reminders remotely; a wireless item finder helps locate misplaced keys or a wallet around the home; and a couch standing aid can make rising from a low seat easier. Thoughtful product choices complement a home designed around the person who lives there.
Plan circulation, clear floor space, transitions, and material choices around the people who use the home.
Explore adaptable features and future needs early, so practical decisions feel integrated into the design.
